In Preparation for 2012
For centuries, the Mayan calendars have been calculating the phases of human evolution on earth. According to their massive calendar system, all the "wheels" will come to an exact end in December of 2012. To some this means the end of the world. To others it is the beginning of a very exciting phase of human evolution.
Inspired by the writings of Carl Johann Calleman and Barbara Hand Clow I will attempt to put it in a nutshell:
It will be a period of peace as duality and differences of opinion are no longer an issue and with it will come a yearning for conscious enlightenment.
Each and every one of us will have something to do with it.
About the Glyphs
Each Day Glyph is accompanied by a corresponding tone. It appears in number form to the left of the Glyph. Each dot denotes 1 and each bar denotes 5. ( i.e. In my friend Pam's painting above there is a single bar. This indicates that her tone is 5.) Tones are named after specific deities. Each of which comes with a specific call to action. I like to think of tones as accents.
The calculations are formulated from the Conversion Codex created by Ian Lundgold. The meanings of the glyphs are derived from Ronald Wright's Time Among the Maya: Travels in Belize, Guatemala, and Mexico (1989)
"The Tzolkin, or calendar of days, lasts 260 days and is comprised of 13 cycles of 20 days each. Each cycle is represented by a glyph and has it's name and meaning. This period corresponds to the time in which a human being gestates in the maternal womb and is related to the moon and fertility. The 13 day periods allude to the time in which a woman is fertile. Probably for this reason, this almanac is considered sacred and useful for predictions concerning the future."
